VI Counter-Complaints
The University is obligated to ensure that the Formal Grievance Process is not abused for retaliatory purposes. Although the University permits the filing of counter-complaints, the Senior Director of Student Experience and Title IX Coordinator will use an initial assessment, described above, to assess whether the allegations in the counter-complaint are made in good faith. When counter-complaints are not made in good faith, they will not be permitted. They will be considered potentially retaliatory and may constitute a Policy violation. Counter-complaints determined to have been reported in good faith will be processed using the Formal Grievance Process. At the Senior Director of Student Experience and Title IX Coordinator’s discretion, investigation of such claims may take place after resolution of the underlying initial Formal Complaint.
