ENG 363 Seminar in Tutoring & Writing

The objectives of this course are the following: to introduce students to the wider range of scholarship in the field of Composition Studies; to train them to assess their own and other writers' skills and needs; to train them to help others to improve their writing; to recognize and write in the various modes of discourse; to develop styles, strategies and approaches to teaching writing skills to students of various social, regional and cultural backgrounds as well as different ability levels and styles of learning; and to use and assess the value of various computer aids to writing. Students in this course will be required to observe and tutor in the Writer's Studio. Prerequisite: ENG 112 or 210 and permission of the instructor.
