Dual Enrollment Program Admission & Information

Overview

Coker University offers high school students an opportunity to begin their college journey early through its Dual Enrollment Program. This initiative allows students to earn college credits while still completing their high school coursework. Courses are available in various formats, including online, in person at Coker’s campus, and at select high schools. The academic rigor of these courses is equivalent to that of traditional college courses, ensuring students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for future academic success.

Eligibility

The program primarily targets high school juniors and seniors. However, motivated freshmen and sophomores demonstrating college readiness may be considered with special approval from both their high school and Coker University.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to take dual enrollment courses, students must meet one of the following general requirements:

  • Maintain a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0, successfully complete at least three core high school English courses and three core high school math courses, and have completed a minimum of twelve units toward high school graduation; or
  • Meet other eligibility standards, such as—but not limited to—qualifying ACT, SAT, or Next Generation Accuplacer test scores.

Please note that some dual enrollment courses may have additional prerequisites or course-specific requirements.

Application Requirements

Students interested in the Dual Enrollment Program must complete a non-degree application and provide a high school transcript as part of the admissions process. Coker University follows appropriate eligibility and placement procedures to ensure that students are prepared for college-level coursework.

Course Offerings

A range of general education courses is available to dual enrollment students, spanning disciplines such as the arts, sciences, business, communication, education, history, and mathematics. Course availability may differ based on the term and instructional format. The academic integrity and rigor of these courses match that of those taken by full-time college students. Faculty overseeing dual enrollment courses are qualified under the same standards as all Coker University instructors, ensuring the quality of instruction remains consistent. Students with specific course interests not listed should reach out to the Director of Dual Enrollment for additional information.

Academic Resources and Support

Dual enrollment students have access to Coker University’s library and learning resources to support their academic success. The university ensures that students can effectively utilize these resources, whether they are studying on campus, online, or at a partnering high school. Additionally, academic advising and student support services are available to help students navigate their coursework. Dual enrollment students are also oriented on their rights, responsibilities, and institutional policies to ensure a smooth academic experience.

Faculty and Instructional Oversight

Courses offered through the Dual Enrollment Program are taught by faculty who meet the same qualifications as Coker University’s full-time instructors. The university maintains institutional oversight to ensure the quality and integrity of all dual enrollment courses. Faculty are responsible for developing and implementing syllabi, assessing student progress, and maintaining academic rigor across all course formats.

Institutional Commitment

Coker University adheres to the guidelines set forth by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to ensure compliance with accreditation standards. The institution maintains oversight of all dual enrollment offerings, whether on campus, online, or at partner high schools, to guarantee academic quality and student success.
