ENG 238 The Quest for Faith

This course explores readings that engage questions and manifestations of faith, both contemporary and/or historical. Stories from the ancient world and new mythologies of the modern superhero push readers to imagine new, worlds and reimagine the existing one. Students will explore a variety of sacred and secular narratives from western and/or non-western religions to consider the ways humanity has sought to understand the universe and the earth and the ways humanity seeks meaning in spite of or because of the fragility of human life.
