EDU 308 Literacy Foundations for Secondary Teach

Examines the foundational knowledge of the reading and writing processes. Focuses on emergent literacy topics, development of word recognition skills, and fluency within the context of the learning needs and characteristics of a secondary student. Evaluates a variety of assessments to guide developmentally appropriate instruction and monitor student learning. Completion of field experience hours in a public-school classroom where candidates assess, plan, instruct, and reflect on best practice is a required component.
