CSD 240 Speech Sound Disorders
This course provides an in-depth examination of speech sound disorders across the lifespan, with an emphasis on articulation and phonological disorders in children. Students will explore typical speech sound development, error patterns, and the theoretical foundations underlying speech sound disorders. The course emphasizes evidence-based assessment and intervention strategies, including phonetic and phonological analysis, treatment planning, and progress monitoring. Additional topics include differential diagnosis, cultural and linguistic considerations, dialectal variation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Through case-based learning and applied activities, students will develop clinical reasoning skills necessary for identifying and supporting individuals with speech sound disorders in educational and clinical settings.
