CSD 220 Phonetics
This course provides an introduction to the production and perception of speech sounds, integrating modern theory and practice in articulatory, acoustic, and linguistic phonetics. Students acquire foundational and applied transcription skills using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) for General American English (GAE), dialectal and foreign-accented English, and speech produced by individuals with communication disorders. Emphasis is placed on phonological development, phonological processes, and clinical applications of phonetics and phonology.
