CSD 210 Anatomy and Physiology for Speech and Hearing Mechanisms

This course provides an in-depth study of the anatomy and physiology of the structures involved in speech, language, hearing, and swallowing, including the neurological mechanisms that control these processes. Emphasis is placed on the anatomical and physiological mechanisms of respiration, phonation, articulation, resonance, hearing, and swallowing, with an overview of the central nervous system and vascular supply to the speech and hearing mechanism. This course is designed for students preparing for advanced study or professional practice in communication sciences and disorders.
