DNC 280 Laban Movement Analysis
This course looks at describing, classifying, and understanding movement through the dynamic system known as Laban Movement Analysis, developed by Rudolf Laban. Through study and physical exploration of the Body, Space, Effort and Shape concepts, the students will develop skills in observing and analyzing the movements of others while examining patterns and preferences of their own. This course material is valuable to students in a range of disciplines and career paths including choreography, performance, movement therapy, physical therapy and education. The research and creative projects will be applicable to the students' individual areas of study. Prerequisites: DNC 210.
