CSD 300 Language Acquisition and Development

This course provides an introduction to language acquisition by examining the sequence and processes of typical speech and language development in children. Topics include theories of language development, acquisition of phonology, semantics, morphology, syntax, and pragmatics, cognitive and perceptual foundations of early language, social and communicative development, and variables that influence language acquisition. Emphasis is placed on clinical application and observation of children in natural contexts.
