EDU 634 Principles and Strategies for Teaching,Diverse Learners

This course focuses on the diversity of learners and considers the historical struggle for equity and excellence in educating all students. Concepts of race, ethnicity, disability, gender, culture, privilege, institutional racism, poverty, and wealth will be examined. This course provides PK-12 educator's strategies for inclusion of diverse learners, including multilingual learners and students with special needs, and provides a knowledge of principles, methods, legalities, and techniques for promoting acquisition of a second language through academic content. Emphasis is on presenting a variety of instructional strategies that can benefit all students in a multicultural, inclusive classroom. Taught Summer II (Teaching Diverse Learners)
