EML 101 Introduction to Emergency Management
This course provides an introduction to the emergency management profession, with emphasis on the four phases of emergency management: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. Students examine the roles and responsibilities of local, state, federal, tribal, and nonprofit agencies, including public safety, public health, healthcare systems, and emergency support organizations. The course explores coordination, planning, communication, and ethical considerations in emergency and disaster situations, preparing students for further study or entry-level roles in emergency management, healthcare, public safety, and related fields.
